Bryan Simplifies Google TV Streamer Experience with Custom Favorites List
Jade Bryan, a Feature Author at Android Police, recently found himself overwhelmed by the hundreds of free TV channels available on his Google TV Streamer. While he initially enjoyed scrolling through the long list and accessing different shows streaming live, he soon grew frustrated with the lack of organization.
Thanks to a built-in favorites section in the Live TV guide, Bryan was able to narrow down the channels and access his favorite shows with just a few taps on the remote. To add channels to this section, users can highlight a channel, press the Select button, and then choose to add it to their favorites list.
However, Bryan noted that managing third-party apps that provide live channels is not as straightforward. These channels are only accessible through the app itself, making it impossible to manage them or add them to the favorites list. Fortunately, the customizable star button on the Google TV Streamer's remote comes in handy for this purpose.
Bryan remapped the star button to open his favorite app, such as Plex or YouTube TV, allowing him to launch them with a single press and continue where he left off.
