Burford Capital Seeks Damages Claims Against Google After €890M Fines
The European Commission has imposed significant fines on Google for violating the Digital Markets Act. In July, the commission fined Google €460 million for infringing the self-preferencing rules by giving its own services an unfair advantage over competitors in search results. The company was also ordered to pay a separate fine of €430 million for breaching steering provisions.
Burford Capital is now looking into funding potential damages claims against Google following these penalties. This suggests that the company may be considering litigation, which could lead to further financial consequences for Google.
