Burger King's Whopper Revamp Pays Off as Sales Surpass Competitors
Burger King is experiencing a resurgence in sales, thanks to the efforts of head chef Amy Alarcon, who previously worked at Popeyes and designed the chicken sandwich that became a viral sensation in 2019. The Whopper, Burger King's signature burger, has been revamped with three key upgrades: a premium brioche bun, a box to help the burger keep its shape, and creamier mayonnaise.
The updates were part of an overall strategy launched by Burger King in February to provide a better customer experience, called the 'Listening Initiative.' President Tom Curtis took over 3,300 calls from customers who provided feedback on the new burger.
Burger King's U.S. sales growth from April to June was its fifth consecutive positive quarter and sixth in the past seven quarters, outshining its top two competitors - McDonald's and Wendy's. The company doesn't seem to be taking its foot off the gas either, as it plans to hire up to 60,000 U.S. workers to meet customer demand.
