Burry Bets Big on Long-Duration Tech with Microsoft LEAPs
Michael Burry, known for his role in the documentary 'The Big Short', has made several trades that reflect his view of market dynamics. He bought Microsoft December 2028 LEAP calls with strike prices in the low $700s, signaling a long-term bullish position on the company.
Burry also added to positions in JD.com and Adobe, and covered half of his short position in Palantir Technologies at $107.15 while continuing to hold puts. He sold Alibaba for tax-loss reasons and may eventually buy it back.
Burry's trades come alongside his assertion that markets are being driven less by fundamentals and more by technical pressure. He points to the decline in Hong Kong equities as capital flows across regions in search of semiconductor exposure, with momentum traders and large Asian-focused funds reallocation quickly making the move self-reinforcing.
