CAFC Denies Amazon's Request to Stay Patent Infringement Lawsuit
The U.S. Court of Appeal for the Federal Circuit (CAFC) has denied Amazon's request to stay a lawsuit against it, citing the 'customer suit exception'.
Headwater Research LLC filed two separate lawsuits: one against Google alleging infringement of its patents by Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM), and another against Amazon claiming that its push messaging system infringes on Headwater's patents.
Amazon argued that the outcome of the Google case would simplify the Amazon case, but the CAFC disagreed, stating that Amazon failed to show a 'clear and indisputable right to a stay by invoking the customer-suit exception.'
