Cameco Poised to Benefit from AI Infrastructure Boom
Big tech companies Google, Amazon, and Meta are continuing to aggressively invest in artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure. Their increasing spending on AI has a ripple effect that benefits several other companies.
Nvidia, which produces processors for AI data centers, is one obvious beneficiary. However, there's another company that stands to gain from this trend: Cameco, a uranium mining and refining firm.
Cameco provides the yellowcake uranium fuel used by most nuclear reactors. As demand for electricity grows, so does the need for reliable power sources like nuclear energy. The World Nuclear Association projects that worldwide nuclear capacity could double or triple by 2050, with some predictions suggesting it could reach as high as 500 reactors by 2030.
While other companies may be able to meet short-term electricity needs through stopgap solutions, such as natural gas turbines, Cameco's long-term prospects are promising. Nuclear power plants can last for decades, and newer designs and materials may have even longer lifespans than existing facilities.
