Campos Named Sandy Barbour Nike DI FBS Athletic Director of the Year
UTSA Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics Lisa Campos has been named the Sandy Barbour Nike DI FBS Athletic Director of the Year by Women Leaders in Sports. This prestigious honor recognizes Campos' leadership and achievements in guiding UTSA Athletics to one of its most successful periods in history.
Campos was previously named the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) Athletics Director of the Year earlier this year and was recognized at the organization's annual convention in June. She expressed her gratitude for the support of UTSA president Dr. Taylor Eighmy and university leadership, stating, 'It's truly gratifying that I get to lead and serve an incredible group of student-athletes, coaches and staff at UTSA each and every day.'
Campos has made a transformative impact on the UTSA Athletics program since her arrival in 2017. During her tenure, UTSA has won back-to-back regular-season conference championships in baseball, a regular season and tournament championship in women's basketball, and a tournament championship in soccer. The university's sports programs have also produced more than 40 All-Americans, nearly 300 all-conference selections, and 11 team conference championships.
Campos has spearheaded several facility upgrades, including the opening of the $40.4 million Roadrunner Athletics Center of Excellence and the Park West Field House. The department is set to debut a new $35 million Basketball and Volleyball Training Center this fall.
