The Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPPIB) has taken a significant position in Walmart Inc. (WMT), purchasing 7,034,053 shares of the retailer's stock during the second quarter.
The value of these shares is approximately $796.677 million, according to a recent filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). This acquisition represents a new position for CPPIB in WMT, which now owns 0.09% of the company's outstanding shares.
This development comes amidst Walmart's continued growth and expansion into e-commerce and digital advertising. The company has seen significant revenue increases, with global e-commerce growing 23% and advertising revenue increasing 38% in its fiscal second-quarter results.
