Canada Probes Indian Food Label Scandal Amid Export Concerns

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency is investigating whether an Indian operation that falsified labels on food products poses a risk to Canada's imports.

Last week, Indian authorities raided a Mumbai warehouse and seized nearly $80,000 worth of products from companies like PepsiCo, Nestle, Coca-Cola, and Unilever. The products were relabelled with fake nutrition information and expiry dates to make them suitable for export.

The Canadian agency stated that it is monitoring the situation and has no information indicating that any of these products entered Canada. However, it emphasized that it takes food fraud seriously and will take appropriate action if necessary.
