Canadian Quantum Computing Stock Gains Momentum Amid Sector Surge
Quantum computing has emerged as a promising technology, and its stocks are gaining momentum. Google's breakthrough in 2019, where its quantum computers outperformed classical supercomputers by tackling complicated problems 10 times faster, marked the beginning of commercializing quantum computing efforts.
The quantum ecosystem is vastly different from traditional computing, with multiple ways to make qubit technologies. However, the challenge lies in scaling, error rate, cooling, and hardware issues that need to be addressed in research labs.
Investors and government funding are pouring into this future tech, with the U.S. Department of Commerce granting $100 million each to three pure-play quantum computing companies under the CHIPS and Science Act in September 2026.
The Canadian company Quantum eMotion (TSXV: QNC) is working on finding solutions to commercialize quantum computing, specifically protecting governments, enterprises, and innovators against future quantum-powered cyberattacks.
