Cargo Plane Crash at Miami International Airport Leaves Five Dead
A devastating cargo plane crash at Miami International Airport on September 6 has claimed the lives of five people. The incident occurred when 21 Air LLC Flight 7598, a Boeing 767-33A operated by 21 Air LLC, overran Runway 30 during landing.
The aircraft, which was on a return flight from San Juan, Puerto Rico, traveled about 1,300 feet past the runway before hitting navigational equipment. It then struck two vehicles: a white Ford Econoline van carrying seven people and a Toyota Corolla Cross on a nearby road.
The victims who died have been identified as Rolando Aleman, 55, Yoel Rodriguez Naranjo, 53, Julio C. Pineda, 75, Carlos Acosta Fajardo, 53, and Javierkys Reyes Quevedo, 47.
Pilot survival was a miracle of sorts, with both crew members on board surviving the crash. New video footage shows one pilot jumping out of the aircraft as it caught fire after overrunning the runway.
