Cargo Plane Overruns Runway at MIA, Multiple Fatalities Reported
A cargo plane operated by Amazon Air overran the runway and struck multiple vehicles near Miami International Airport, resulting in at least five fatalities and injuring five others. The incident occurred on September 6 around 2 p.m. local time when the Boeing Prime Air 767-300 cargo aircraft, operated by 21 Air, departed from Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
The plane, which was attempting to land at MIA, overran the diagonal runway and collided with several vehicles on Northwest 42nd Avenue. The Federal Aviation Administration will investigate the incident. Miami-Dade Mayor Daniella Levine Cava expressed her condolences for the families affected by the tragedy.
