CAT and GTX Shine, GTM Falters in Cash Generation
Two stocks stand out for their ability to turn cash into shareholder value. However, one company may struggle to keep up.
Caterpillar (CAT) is a notable example of a successful business that generates cash. With its iconic yellow machinery working on construction sites, the company manufactures equipment like bulldozers and excavators, as well as offering parts and maintenance services.
CAT's offerings and unique value proposition resonate with customers, leading to above-market 10.2% annual sales growth over the last five years. Share buybacks have also catapulted its annual earnings per share growth to 21.7%, outperforming revenue gains over the same period.
Garrett Motion (GTX) is another company that has excelled at generating cash flow, with free cash flow margin growing by 6.8 percentage points over the last five years. Its earnings growth has also trumped its peers, with EPS compounding at 44.4% annually.
In contrast, ZoomInfo (GTM) may struggle to keep up. The company's flat billings over the last year suggest it needs to improve its products, pricing, or go-to-market strategy to reinvigorate demand. Sales are projected to tank by 6.2% over the next 12 months as demand evaporates.
