Roseannette Moreno's family was on their way to a new assignment in Washington when their eight-year-old cat, Sasha, slipped out of her harness and into the thick brush near Chevron's San Ardo Oil Field.

The family had chosen what they thought would be a quick pit stop, but it turned into a nightmare as they searched for hours to get Sasha back. Moreno's husband is in the U.S. Air Force Special Forces, and with his duty schedule, they couldn't afford to stay any longer.

After contacting North County Paws Cause, a non-profit that helps find lost pets, the family was coached through steps on how to get Sasha out, but she didn't come out all night. The next day, volunteers from North County Paws Cause and SAV-Cats worked tirelessly to set up a humane trap, but security stopped them initially.

It wasn't until hours before calling it quits for the night that Sasha finally emerged from the brush. Moreno was overjoyed to be reunited with her beloved pet, saying 'Literally did not know what to do!' and thanking North County Paws Cause for their efforts.
