CAT Stock Skyrockets on Blowout Q2 Earnings
Caterpillar (CAT) stock surged by 5.5% in morning trading after the company released its second-quarter earnings report, which far exceeded Wall Street's expectations.
The construction equipment manufacturer announced revenue of $20.54 billion, a 24% increase from the same period last year and significantly above analysts' forecast of $18.95 billion.
Caterpillar also reported adjusted earnings per share of $8.17, which was nearly 32% higher than consensus estimates, and its operating margin expanded to 20.9% for the quarter, up from 17.3% in the prior year.
The strong performance was driven by higher sales volume, indicating robust demand for Caterpillar's heavy machinery and equipment.
