Caterpillar Brings Mining Automation Expertise to AI Deployment
Caterpillar, an industrial company, is applying its experience in mining automation to artificial intelligence deployment in various sectors. The company plans to use this technology at work and construction sites as well as in quarries over the next five years.
To achieve this goal, Caterpillar will invest $100 million to train 118,000 employees in AI, autonomous technologies, and robotics. This is a significant move for the company, which has already developed autonomous equipment for the mining industry.
The experience gained from the mining industry has been invaluable in developing autonomous solutions for more dynamic environments. Caterpillar's suite of autonomous solutions includes software command centers, equipment fleet management systems, and remote terrain analysis tools.
