Caterpillar Hits Record Quarter with $20.5 Billion in Sales
Caterpillar Inc., the leading global manufacturer of construction and mining equipment, reported record-breaking sales and revenue in its second-quarter earnings release. The company generated $20.5 billion in sales and revenues for the quarter, a 24% increase from $16.6 billion in the same period last year.
The Construction Industries segment, which includes machines tied to site preparation, earthmoving, and general building activity, posted $8.346 billion in second-quarter sales, up 35% from the previous year. This growth was driven by higher sales volume, stronger end-user demand, and favorable pricing across these machines.
North America Construction Industries sales climbed 50% to $5.065 billion, with strong order rates and a growing backlog indicating continued momentum in the region. The company's Power & Energy segment also grew 17% to $8.238 billion, fueled by sales of large reciprocating engines and turbine-related services for data center applications.
Caterpillar's Chairman and CEO Joe Creed stated that this is 'the first time in company history that we have generated over $20 billion in sales and revenues in a single quarter.' The company attributes the strong quarterly performance to demand from equipment buyers, indicating that construction and heavy project work remain active across key markets.
