Caterpillar Launches Electric Dozer with Boosted Productivity and Lower Costs

Caterpillar has introduced its new Cat D11 XE electric drive dozer, designed to boost productivity and reduce operating costs for mining operations. The machine's electric drivetrain features 60% fewer moving parts than a mechanical drive system, simplifying service and lowering owning and operating costs over the life of the machine.

The Cat C32B engine operates at a lower high-idle speed in the D11 XE, allowing it to deliver up to 20% longer life between rebuilds compared to the D11. Planned component repair intervals for the engine, final drives, and hydraulic systems have been increased from 15,000 to 18,000 hours, aligning with the electric drive's 18,000-hour rebuild centreline.

The new dozer can move 5% to 10% more material per hour than its predecessor, the Cat D11. It also consumes up to 25% less fuel per unit of material moved and produces 20% to 25% fewer GHG emissions. Additionally, the machine's electric drive system eliminates the need for gears, simplifying operation and enabling smoother manoeuvring.
