Caterpillar Ranks Among Top Employers in Illinois Despite HQ Move

Caterpillar has been named among the top employers in Illinois by Forbes. The company ranked 99th on the list of the state's top 100 employers, according to Forbes' annual Best Employers by State survey.

The survey, conducted with the assistance of market research firm Statista, evaluated companies based on various criteria such as wages and benefits, management style, reputation, flexibility, and career advancement. Employees were asked how likely they were to recommend their company to others, and their responses were incorporated into a scoring system that weighed recent responses heavily.

Caterpillar's presence in Illinois dates back to its founding in Peoria in 1925, but the company moved its corporate headquarters to Texas in 2022. Despite this move, Caterpillar maintains offices and facilities in the Peoria area and across Illinois.
