Caterpillar Roars into Data-Center Boom with Record Quarter
Caterpillar, an Irving-based company, has found success in selling equipment needed to power America's AI data centers. The company reported $20.5 billion in sales and revenue for its second quarter, a 24% increase from the same period last year.
The Power & Energy business was a key contributor to this growth, with sales reaching $8.2 billion after increasing by roughly $1.2 billion year over year.
CEO Joe Creed attributed the company's strong performance to 'strong order rates and a growing backlog across Caterpillar's major businesses.'
Caterpillar is expanding its presence in the data-center market, including a multiyear agreement with Hunt Energy to deliver power solutions for data centers. The company's toolbox includes natural-gas and diesel generators, gas turbines, switchgear, controls, engineering services, and monitoring systems.
