Caterpillar Secures Tax Breaks for $890M Expansion
Lafayette City Council approved two tax abatements for Caterpillar's Large Engine Center in support of an $890 million expansion. The investment will modernize and improve existing equipment, unfold over several years to boost manufacturing operations and increase safety within 'Building B.'
The company will retain its current workforce of 1,995 employees as part of the investment. This brings Caterpillar's recent investments in its Lafayette operations to $1.6 billion.
Lafayette Mayor Tony Roswarski said Caterpillar's investment is substantial for the community, securing good-paying jobs with healthcare benefits for residents and having a ripple effect on other businesses.
