Caterpillar Shares Soar on Strong Q2 Earnings
Caterpillar, the construction equipment company, saw its shares jump 5.5% in morning trading after reporting second-quarter results that significantly exceeded Wall Street's expectations.
The company announced revenue of $20.54 billion, a 24% increase from the same period last year and well ahead of the $18.95 billion analysts had forecast.
Caterpillar's profitability was also a bright spot, with adjusted earnings per share of $8.17, nearly 32% higher than consensus estimates.
The strong performance was driven by higher sales volume, signaling robust demand for its heavy machinery and equipment.
