Caterpillar Surges Ahead of Deere with Strong Growth Prospects
Caterpillar Inc., known for its yellow equipment, and Deere & Company, famous for its green tractors, are two leading heavy machinery companies. Caterpillar serves a broad range of end markets, including construction, mining, infrastructure, and oil & gas, while Deere dominates the agricultural, forestry, and turf equipment markets.
Caterpillar has seen positive revenue growth over the past four quarters, with earnings growth in the past three. In the second quarter of 2026, revenues gained 24% year over year to $20.5 billion, driven by higher sales volumes across its businesses. Adjusted earnings per share surged 73% to a record $8.17 in the quarter.
Deere has reported positive revenue growth for four consecutive quarters, with earnings returning to growth in the third quarter of fiscal 2026 after 10 straight quarters of declines. Net sales from Deere's equipment operations were $11 billion in the third-quarter fiscal 2026, up 6.2% year over year.
