Caterpillar Takes Slow Crossing as Anglers Go Fishless

A tiny traveller made its way across the Peace Park Bridge in Cobourg, Ontario. The Hickory Tussock Moth caterpillar, native to the region, was spotted slowly making its way along the walkway earlier this week.

The distinctive white, black, and orange markings on the caterpillar's body, along with its covering of fine-looking hairs and spines, make it easily recognizable. However, it's worth noting that these black hairs or spines can cause skin irritation if touched.

The caterpillar was seen stopping to find food along the way before continuing its journey across the bridge. In contrast, anglers casting their lines into Cobourg Creek nearby seemed to have trouble attracting any bites from the fish.
