Caterpillar Unveils Electric-Drive Dozer for Mining Operations

Caterpillar has launched its first electric-drive large dozer, the Cat D11 XE. The machine is designed to increase productivity and reduce fuel consumption in mining operations.

The Cat D11 XE consumes up to 25% less fuel per unit of material moved compared to the next-generation D11. It can also push 5% to 10% more material per hour, according to Caterpillar.

Its drivetrain has 60% fewer moving parts than traditional dozers, while the C32B engine is designed to extend rebuild life by up to 20%. Planned repair intervals for major components increase from 15,000 to 18,000 hours.
