The D11 XE Electric Drive, a hybrid of century-old train tech and modern electric motors, is designed to deliver up to 25% less fuel consumption per unit of material moved compared to the latest Cat D11.
The new dozer features an electric drive system that eliminates the need for gears and provides smoother operation. With no gear shifts required, operators can focus on the task at hand while enjoying improved maneuverability and pryout force.
Caterpillar expects the adoption of electric drive systems in earthmoving equipment to continue growing as more owners and operators experience the benefits. The company's middleweight D8 and D6 XE Electric Drive dozers have already shown increased fuel savings, productivity, and lower maintenance costs compared to their conventional counterparts.
The D11 XE joins this lineup, promising superior uptime with up to 20% longer life between ICE rebuilds and planned component repair intervals increased from 15,000 to 18,000 operating hours.
