Cathay Pacific and Google Expand AI Contrail Trials to Ultra-Long-Haul Flights

Cathay Pacific and Google are expanding their partnership to reduce climate impact from contrails on ultra-long-haul flights. The two companies first started trials of an AI-powered contrail-avoidance system in late 2025, when around 130 flights used the technology.

The new expansion aims to bring this technology to more routes and increase its effectiveness. This collaboration is part of a broader effort to reduce emissions from aviation.
