Centreville's Historic Coca-Cola Mural Restored to Glory

A historic mural in Centreville, Alabama, has been restored to its original glory after a year-long project. The Centreville Main Street partnered with Tuscaloosa Coca-Cola Bottling Company and The Coca-Cola Company to revive the 1940s-era mural.

The restoration cost around $20,000 and involved extensive historical research, photo verification, and preservation planning to ensure the mural's authenticity. According to Jim Oakley, former owner of The Centreville Press newspaper, an original photograph taken by him in 1946 played a crucial role in restoring the mural.

The unveiling ceremony took place on July 7, where guests received commemorative Centreville Coca-Cola bottles. This project is part of a larger initiative by Coca-Cola UNITED and The Coca-Cola Company to restore historic murals across Alabama, with previous restorations taking place in Calera, Fayette, Waverly, Wetumpka, and others.
