CFMEU Administrator Takes Aim at Setka's Slush Fund
Disgraced former CFMEU chief John Setka and his ally Ralph Edwards are under scrutiny for their handling of a private slush fund worth over $1 million. The fund, Building Industry 2000, has earned millions of dollars through deals with Coca-Cola and the sale of CFMEU merchandise.
CFMEU administrator Michael Crosby accused Setka and Edwards of continuing to hold onto the funds, which could have been used for the benefit of union members. Crosby's investigation found that over $400,000 was received from Coca-Cola Amatil by the slush fund, but none of it has been handed over to the CFMEU.
Setka denied any wrongdoing and claimed he would return the funds if and when the CFMEU exits administration. However, Edwards said the investigation into the slush fund's operation is ongoing and that they will not make any comment until it is complete.
