CFOs Turn to AI Amid Rising Revenue Complexity
The role of Chief Financial Officers (CFOs) is expanding rapidly due to rising revenue complexity, and they are turning to Artificial Intelligence (AI) for relief. According to Salesforce's CFO Priorities Report, nearly three-quarters of finance leaders say their role expanded this year, with managing AI as the top reason.
The report, based on a double-blind survey of 865 finance leaders across three continents, found that 65% of finance teams now manage multiple revenue models, and 71% sell through more channels than a year ago. This diversification of sales channels and revenue models is creating complexity for finance teams, with 67% saying they still complete at least one in five workflows manually.
AI is helping to alleviate this burden, with 90% of finance leaders who use AI reporting positive Return on Investment (ROI). Those using AI agents specifically report significant benefits in time savings, productivity, cost savings, and forecast accuracy. However, adoption remains cautious due to security and governance concerns.
