CFTC Probes Polymarket for Insider Trading in High-Profile Markets
The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) has opened at least three investigations into trading on Polymarket, a prediction platform. The probes cover markets tied to Joe Biden's pardons, Iran-related events, and Google's 2025 Year in Search ranking.
The CFTC authorized the investigations, which were disclosed through a Freedom of Information Act request. The agency has not commented on the status of the investigations or whether they are connected to earlier media coverage of traders profiting from Polymarket markets.
One trader reportedly made over $300,000 and Iran-related accounts booked $2.4 million with a 98% win rate. The CFTC's focus is on suspected insider trading in these event contracts, rather than the platform itself.
