Chakravarthy Set to Lead Adobe as Another Indian-Origin CEO Takes the Helm
Adobe has named Anil Chakravarthy its next president and CEO, effective December 1. He will succeed fellow Indian-origin executive Shantanu Narayen, who is moving to executive chair after more than 18 years as CEO.
Chakravarthy was born in India and studied computer science at IIT Varanasi before earning a master's and PhD from MIT. His career includes senior roles at VeriSign and Symantec, and he joined Adobe in 2020 to lead its Customer Experience Orchestration business and worldwide field operations.
Chakravarthy is one of 18 Indian-origin CEOs leading some of the world's biggest companies. Other notable examples include Satya Nadella of Microsoft, Sundar Pichai of Google and Alphabet, Arvind Krishna of IBM, and Kunal Shah who has joined Meta to lead WhatsApp globally.
