Chapek's Castle: Former Disney CEO Set to Reveal All
Former Disney CEO Bob Chapek is breaking his silence in a new memoir called 'Behind the Castle Walls', set to be released on September 29, 2026. The book covers his 27-year rise through the company, including his sudden appointment as CEO in February 2020 and his ousting less than three years later.
Chapek's story begins with his small-town Indiana upbringing and the influence of his WWII-veteran father. He shares his reflections on what he calls his true legacy four years after leaving Disney, including whether he was set up to fail or got a fair shot as CEO.
The book also delves into Disney's political battles in Florida during Chapek's tenure and the events that led to Iger's return as CEO. Chapek became CEO on February 25, 2020, taking over from Bob Iger, who stayed on as Executive Chairman. Walt Disney World closed the following month due to the pandemic.
