ChatGPT Gets Google Drive Editing Power
OpenAI has boosted its ChatGPT plugin with a new capability that lets users access and edit Google Drive files directly within the chatbot window. The update, which began rolling out on August 13, is available for ChatGPT Plus, Pro, Enterprise, Edu, Healthcare, and Business subscribers on the web.
The feature supports files and folders in My Drive as well as those shared directly with you. To get started, users can select Plugins from the left-side panel in ChatGPT and ensure the Google Drive plug-in is installed.
Once enabled, users can browse all their supported Drive files from ChatGPT's Library and add them to any chat using @mentions or by selecting the plus (+) button in the prompt box. From there, they can ask ChatGPT to summarize, analyze, compare, or create something new from the files.
The updated feature also allows users to select a folder and ask ChatGPT to apply changes to all the files it contains. All edits made from this window will be saved automatically to the original source file in Drive, provided necessary permissions are granted.
