Chevron Bolsters Venezuelan Presence with New Acreage Deals

Chevron (NYSE:CVX) has expanded its presence in Venezuela through new agreements that add heavy oil acreage to the Orinoco Belt. The updated arrangements include revised fiscal and operational terms across Chevron's Venezuelan joint ventures.

The company plans substantial joint venture investment over the next five years under the new framework, with a total of more than $7,000 million in spending planned. This move is part of Chevron's efforts to secure long-life heavy oil resources on favorable terms, supporting large upfront investments.

While the new agreements refine Chevron's risk profile, they do not eliminate it entirely. The company still faces exposure to sanctioned assets, policy decisions, and project execution risks in Venezuela.
