Chevron is expanding its liquefied natural gas (LNG) ambitions as global energy security takes center stage due to recent disruptions and surging oil prices. The company's diversified gas supply portfolio is gaining strategic value, and management has outlined potential LNG growth across several regions.

Chevron expects around 20 million metric tons per year of LNG supply capacity in 2026, with about 16 million tons from its own projects and another 4 million tons secured through U.S. Gulf Coast contracts. The company is targeting additional LNG opportunities in Argentina, the Eastern Mediterranean, Australia, Africa, and potentially India.

The recent disruptions to major gas-producing regions have strengthened the case for a more geographically diversified LNG portfolio, according to Reuters. Chevron's ability to move supply across regions when individual markets become disrupted is crucial for its success in this space.
