The Chevron City to Surf event is just around the corner, and organizers are hoping for even more participants than last year's record-breaking crowd. In 2025, over 29,000 people turned out to raise funds for genU, an organization that provides equipment and programs to improve accessibility and participation for West Australians living with disabilities.

genU received a significant boost from the event, raising over $500,000 in donations. This year, organizers are hoping to exceed last year's total, and encourage even more people to join in on the fun.

The 7NEWS crew will be among those participating in the event, with several team members planning to walk or run in the 4km or 12km course. Samantha Jolly, a member of the 7NEWS team, has been involved with the event for many years and is looking forward to another year of supporting a great cause.

'I've done every category so I used to do the 12km. I've done a couple of half marathons and I even did the full marathon back in the day when it was an event and now I do the 4km with my kids,' Jolly said.
