Chevron Crushes Earnings with Record-Breaking $12.1 Billion Profit
Chevron's second-quarter financial results have left analysts stunned, with a net profit of $12.1 billion - a staggering 446% increase from the same period last year and 385% higher than in the year-ago quarter.
The oil giant's adjusted earnings of $6.05 per share far exceeded the consensus estimate of $5.55, a clear indication that Chevron is performing strongly amidst rising oil prices. Brent averaged $104 per barrel during the quarter.
Chevron's cash flow from operations was equally impressive, with a record-breaking $22.6 billion generated in the second quarter - a significant jump from last year's first half and more than double the previous quarter's figure.
The company's free cash flow was also robust at $15.4 billion, more than triple its total from last year and significantly higher than the previous quarter. This has enabled Chevron to cover its dividend payment of $3.5 billion during the second quarter, while also repurchasing over $3.1 billion of shares and reducing debt by a record $8.4 billion.
