Chevron Faces Global Backlash Over Climate Destruction and Human Rights Abuses
The Palestinian-led BDS movement has called on supporters worldwide to join Anti-Chevron actions this month, starting May 17 and continuing through Chevron's annual shareholder meeting on May 28. The global day of action aims to protest Chevron's past and ongoing climate destruction and human rights violations globally, especially in the Amazon basin in Latin America.
In solidarity with the BDS movement's call to boycott Chevron for its complicity in Israel's genocide and apartheid, Amazon Watch has integrated the Palestinian-led Boycott Chevron campaign into Anti-Chevron Day. At Chevron's upcoming 2026 annual shareholder meeting, shareholders will vote on a proposal calling on the company to evaluate whether its due diligence processes are sufficient to prevent complicity in violations of international law arising from its operations in high-risk regions.
Supporters can take various actions, including boycotting and picketing at Chevron locations, mobilizing through banner drops or protests, divesting from Chevron by calling on institutions to exclude it from contracts, dropping sponsorships by pressuring events and universities to end partnerships, and educating across movements about Chevron's role in climate destruction and human rights violations.
