Chevron Geismar Refinery Doubles Down on Renewable Diesel Expansion
Chevron's Geismar refinery has undergone significant expansion, increasing its annual renewable diesel production capacity from 90 million gallons to 340 million gallons. This growth not only boosts Chevron's output but also expands the facility's economic footprint in Ascension Parish.
According to plant manager Zac Leeth, the project added over 100 jobs to the existing workforce of more than 160 Chevron employees and around 350 workers overall. During construction, which lasted roughly 2½ years, more than 1,500 people worked at the site.
The expansion's impact on the local economy is substantial, with Leeth highlighting the project's broader economic footprint in Ascension Parish. As the facility continues to grow and adapt to changing renewable fuel markets, Chevron's strategy for the Geismar operation becomes increasingly clear.
