Chevron Hands Employees Bonuses Amid Record Earnings
Chevron has announced that it will be awarding its employees a special bonus for their operational results so far this year. This comes after the company reported record earnings, which were boosted by high oil prices due to the ongoing war in Iran.
In an internal email seen by Reuters, CEO Mike Wirth praised Chevron staffers for meeting cost-reduction targets and achieving deal synergies from the Hess acquisition ahead of schedule. He also commended them for operating safely amid geopolitical upheaval in Venezuela and the Middle East.
The bonus will amount to half of monthly base pay for most employees, according to the email. This decision was made despite U.S. President Donald Trump's criticism of major oil companies, including Chevron, for not lowering gasoline prices.
