Chevron President Leaves Dhaka After High-Level Talks on Gas Investment
Chevron's President of Base Assets and Emerging Countries (BAEC) Division Javier Armando La Rosa Heinrich departed Dhaka on September 13 after high-level talks with the Bangladeshi government.
The discussions centered around expanding Chevron's investment in Bangladesh's natural gas sector, particularly in existing and aging gas fields, as well as exploring new fields to strengthen their long-standing partnership with the country.
Bangladesh is currently facing a persistent gas and power shortage, prompting the government to implement an aggressive program to expand domestic gas production by increasing exploration, drilling, and development of domestic resources.
Chevron operates three major gas fields in Bangladesh's northeast, Bibiyana, Jalalabad, and Moulavi Bazar, and is the country's largest natural-gas producer, accounting for about 60 percent of domestic gas production and more than 83 percent of condensate production.
