Chevron Refuses to Pay Toll for Strait of Hormuz Ship Passage
U.S. oil and gas major Chevron has stated that it will not consider paying a toll to move ships through the Strait of Hormuz, according to CEO Mike Wirth.
The comments were made in an interview with Bloomberg TV on Friday, where Wirth also discussed recent incidents involving vessels transiting through the waterway.
According to Wirth, several ships have been attacked in recent days, although he did not specify a date or number of incidents. He described these events as 'multiple incidents.'
Chevron currently has six vessels under charter in the Strait of Hormuz, but it is ultimately up to the ship owner to decide whether to move through the strait, Wirth explained.
