Chevron Seeks to Boost Gas Investment in Bangladesh

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman met with Chevron's President of Base Assets and Emerging Countries Javier La Rosa to discuss increasing investment in Bangladesh's gas sector. The high-level delegation from Chevron, led by La Rosa, visited the Prime Minister's Office at the Bangladesh Secretariat on Sunday. The meeting focused on exploring new gas fields alongside existing ones to strengthen Bangladesh's energy security and meet its growing energy demand.

Prime Minister Rahman sought increased investment from Chevron in the country's energy sector, particularly in existing and ageing gas fields as well as exploring new gas fields. Dr Rashed Al Mahmud Titumir, Prime Minister's Adviser on Finance and Planning, State Minister for Power and Energy Aninda Islam Amit, and Chevron Bangladesh President Shu Xiong were present during the meeting.

The move aims to strengthen Bangladesh's energy security and meet its growing demand for energy. With Chevron's investment, Bangladesh hopes to tap into new gas fields and increase production from existing ones, reducing reliance on imports.
