US officials are expecting oil giant Chevron to announce an expansion of its operations in Venezuela.

This move comes just days after President Donald Trump announced a deal to develop the country's oil reserves and give the Pentagon a stake in the profits.

The US official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said that Chevron officials and Energy Secretary Chris Wright are expected to visit Venezuela on Wednesday to unveil the new investment.
