Chevron Signs Agreement with Iraq's Ministry of Oil for West Qurna-2 Consultancy
Chevron, a US energy company, has signed an agreement with Iraq's Ministry of Oil to provide technical consultancy services for the Basra Oil Company (BOC) in negotiations over the West Qurna-2 oilfield.
The agreement was made under the auspices of Iraqi Minister of Oil Basim Mohammed Khudair Al-Abadi and will see Chevron offer technical advice throughout the negotiation period concerning the development of West Qurna-2.
This comes as Iraq and Chevron continue discussions over the US company's potential role in developing one of Iraq's major oilfields, with negotiations underway for Chevron to acquire the field. The agreement is seen as a significant step forward in these talks.
