Chevron Stock Gains on Strong Q2 Profits and Venezuela Expansion
Chevron Corporation's stock has gained support from strong Q2 2026 profits and Venezuela expansion plans. The company reported total revenue and other income of $70.055 billion in the second quarter, up sharply from $44.822 billion in the same quarter a year earlier, an increase of about 56.3 percent.
Net profit attributable to the company climbed to $12.072 billion, compared with $2.49 billion in the prior-year quarter, meaning earnings were almost 4.9 times higher year on year.
The expansion into Venezuela includes a plan to invest more than $7 billion over the next five years to develop additional assets in the Orinoco Belt, where Chevron already operates. The goal is to more than double production from its 2026 level to approximately 600,000 barrels of oil per day.
However, this move introduces notable geopolitical and regulatory risk. The expansion follows a newly announced agreement between the United States administration and Venezuela that gives the Pentagon a stake in profits from developing the country’s oil reserves.
