The recent surge in oil prices is being attributed to tensions in the Middle East, which has lifted crude prices towards USD 95 a barrel. Chevron and Shell have also signed a preliminary agreement with Ghana as the country reviews its oil and gas sector.
Chevron's Q2 earnings were strong, with revenue up 57.4% year over year to USD 67.20 billion. Adjusted EPS came in at USD 6.06, beating estimates by USD 0.51.
