Chevron Stock Rises Amid Strong Q2 Performance and Balance Sheet Strength
Chevron's stock price has reached near-record highs after a strong second quarter in 2026. The company reported unaudited earnings of $12.1 billion, or $6.11 per diluted share, on total revenues and other income of $70.1 billion in Q2 2026.
The cash flow from operations excluding working capital was $19.7 billion, while adjusted free cash flow came in at $15.4 billion during the same period. This substantial deleveraging capacity allowed for a reduction of more than $8 billion in debt and pushed net debt to cash-flow-from-operations down to 0.6 times.
Chevron's recent Q2 performance has bolstered its balance sheet, with free cash flow enabling a record $8.4 billion reduction in total debt and lowering the net debt ratio to 13.1 percent. This prioritization of balance sheet strength alongside shareholder returns has been a key focus for management during the current cycle of elevated oil prices.
