Chevron Strikes Oil and Gas Condensate in Angola's Block 0
Chevron's exploration streak in Sub-Saharan Africa continues to pay off. The US-headquartered energy giant has confirmed an oil and gas condensate discovery at an exploration well in Angola's Block 0.
The discovery, made using ADES' Shelf Drilling Tenacious rig, is located in the Lower Congo Basin. Chevron targeted this area due to its proven geology and decades of experience in Angola.
According to Kevin McLachlan, Chevron's Vice President of Exploration, 'The early results are encouraging, and additional work will help determine the resource's full potential and possible development opportunities.' He described the reservoir quality as 'excellent.'
The well encountered over 2,000 feet of oil and gas condensate column, including more than 300 feet of net pay. Chevron is now evaluating whether the discovery can be developed using nearby facilities.
